Tobis and his Gauchos (1938 - 50)

1941 Gitarristen Torvald Tobiasson blev 1938 bekant med dragpelaren Walle Söderlund. Han undrade om Walle var intresserad av att spela tillsammans med honom på Café Prag som låg på Kungsgatan i Stockholm. Violinisten Alf Alfer kom att bli tredje musikanten i trion. De kallade sig "Tobis and his Gauchos" och hade vackra, svarta sammetsbyxor med röda revärer och gula sidenskjortor. De specialiserade sig på latinamerikanska tongångar med tango som grädde på moset. I drygt tolv år existerade trion, det blev radio, grammofon, folkparkerna (lördagar och söndagar), Wally-revyn, Chinavaritén, Bäckahästen och Bellmansro. Det blev också en hel del lyxengagemang hos det Stockholm som ville synas.
