Roffe Ericsson

Rolf "Roffe" Ericson (29.08.1922 - )

Rolf Ericson 1962 Musiker (trumpet), orkesterledare. Född på söder i Stockholm. Började spela trumpet som 9-åring i skolorkestern och inspirerades till att bli musiker av sin morbror, trumpetaren Ragge Läth. Efter skolan började han utbilda sig till reklamteknare på Dagens Nyheter och hade musiken som hobby och i mitten av 1940-talet räkanades han som en av sveriges främsta jazzsolister. Reste till USA på hösten 1947 och kom att stanna där under nästan tre år och spelade i flera kända amerikanska orkestrar. Åter i Sverige bildade han orkester tillsammans med Arne Domnerus. Denna orkester kom att bli berömd och spelade på Nalen och på turneer i landsorten. Efter ett par år lämnade dock Roffe Ericson åter Sverige för USA och spelade bl.a. i Duke Ellingtons och Gerry Mulligans orkestrar. 1965 återvände han än en gång till Sverige och blev kvar några år innan han bosatte sig i Tyskland. Flyttade sedan åter till USA 1990!
